Whats for lunch today...

OK. If you eat the right proportions for each meal, you should be eating at least six (6) times a day. This does not mean  six 'hungry man plates". This means a serving of this and a serving of that. To figure out the right proportions for your sex, weight, hight and age, you can put your information into My food pyramid and adjust your meal plan just for you.

I just had a Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich. Now, my jelly consisted of fruit preserves.  The preserves substituted for part of the 2.5 cups of fruit for my specific daily fruit intake. In addition, my bread was a 7 grain whole wheat and my peanut butter was crunchy.  It’s just a fun way to satisfy my own taste pallets.

Now my Milk...well, I have cut out whole cow's milk from my diet.   There are two reasons for this:

1: American farmer use hormones and antibiotics in the cows they raise.  This makes humans sicker, fatter and has many health complications.

2: I drink nut milk.  This includes soy, rice or almond.  Also, the soy helps women deal with menopause. Something to think about. Now I am not a vegan, but eating healthy does not include the vegan diet... necessarily.

In respect, nut milk can be very expensive. I have found that supermarket name brand milk is substantially less expensive than the exclusive brand soy milk's. Another benefit is that soy milk last's WAYYYY longer than cow's milk...a little over a month. So I am getting my $$$ worth.

Someone told me, to get use to the change from cow's milk to nut milk, start off with vanilla soy. If you like that, gradually switch to the regular soy. I like to keep at least a quart of vanilla soy just for my Farina/Hot wheat cereal. It reallllly give's it a kick of just the right amount of sweetness.

With this meal, I have partially satisfied my grain, fruit, dairy, and nut intake of my daily food allowance.

Bon Appetite!
