Guide to Electric Foods-I am Changing My Diet...

This year has brought me many blessing which I will be taking into 2K14. One of them is to change my diet dramatically! I may have figured a way to prolong my life by eating electric foods.  Doing some research on Annett Larking and Dr. Sebi, has giving me a mental boost to cleans my body's system, make it brand new and help me reach the goal of living to 101 years of age.

As I start obligating myself to writing more blogs on my new eating way of life, I will share the things that I am doing and it's progress.

Here are some (click) electric food that can bring your body back to life with a whole new cleanliness on the molecular level!

Dr. Sebi centers his medicinal approach on herbology. His beliefs are grounded in that all beings were created by God as electrical entities. From birth, we feed our bodies "dead" foods found in traditional stores and grocery shops. Electric foods can only be found in nature. The theory is essence centers on the natural circle of life. By giving one's body back to nature (1) you will return to your natural healthy state. The herbs and foods that cure are ones grown without the interference of the hand of man. That is to say, if an herb grows naturally in a forest, it retains its electric curing ability, but the same herb grown in a hot house will not hold healing qualities.

You can do some of your own research and decide if you are feeding your body to the best of your ability to ensure maximum health. This is going to be a long journey but the journey of 1000 miles begins with a first step! THIS IS THAT FIRST STEP...

FRESHLY PICKED BLUEBERRIES

I am so exited to come back to blogging. I like sharing my experiences with my friends, family and others.  This June, I took the I Can Garden program to the Melanie Thorton Youth Arts Foundation "The Moral Of the Story".  Every Friday we take the children on a trip that relates to Gardening. On June 19, 2013 we took our kids to pick Bluberries at DJ's Blueberry Farm in McDonough GA. (Does that sound familiar Brooklynites?-Bed Stuy)  Before the trip I had a short class about the heath benefits of the Blueberry. Did you know that the Blueberry (are not only popular, but also repeatedly ranked in the U.S. diet as having one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits, vegetables, spices and seasonings.) according to WHFoods.org, something I did not know until I researched it. So get them Blueberries in your muffin, cereals and even your salads. One of my campers mom, prepared a dinner for us before we put on the play "The Moral of the Story". In our meal, she prepared a salad dressing with her freshly picked Blueberries...a recipe she got off the internet. You can find one on the web, but I will give you the shortcut: I have never never never had a Blueberry dressing and especially so fresh. I even had a second helping and because I loved it so much...hence I'm passing on the recipe! Thank you Ms. Tanya...Christian's mom. That's Christian on the Left and Sachelles on the right.

Blueberry Salad Dressing

1 cup of Blueberries
2/3 olive oil
1/3 balsamic vinegar
2 tbls of water
2 tbls of honey/agave
1/2 tsp salt
*more oil to thin

Honey.....I'm Backkkkk

So a few weeks ago someone posted on Facebook, women that look young in their older age. Some of the women were Tina Turner, Annette Larkin and Ernestine Shepherd. Now alot of people ask me what makes me look so young. Well two things are my recipe for keeping my youth. Diet, as Mrs. Larkin does and exercise like Ms. Shepherd does. Mrs. Larkin is a raw vegan. She believes in eating live and raw foods and  that cooking food kills (the enzymes and robbed foods of important nutrients), you know, killing the living of the food. She believes in using the sprouting  method for growing some food. This is something I will try and start this summer. Perhaps include in my gardening class with I Can Garden this summer. Now Ms. Shepherd believes in exercising for her fountain of youth. She started her bodybuilding at the age of fifty-six (56). You can say age is just a number, but her diet differs from Mrs. Larkin. Which begs me to differ...diet or exercise? Which will keep the fountain of youth for you. Well I do both. You decide for yourself.

Even during refrigeration, sprouts continue to grow at a minute level.  Therefore, we are eating live food when we consume them).

Finding a natural remedy for the Biatch that comes out in me...

Hope you all have enjoyed your short summer and ate as healthy as you could. I defiantly did! But this season I have noticed that I have been very bitchy, emotional, depressed at times, and not to mention the bothersome of my own "personal summer" attacks.  So my official blood family is few where I am located or so up in age that they cant remember the symptoms of the MEN-O-PAUSE...I do have longevity in my family. The eldest member of my bloodline is at 103 years of age. Though I did talk to my 90 yr old granny, and she could not help in lue of "I can't remember that", and yes, she is of sound mind and body! Thanks Grandma Ford.

So I ask the doctor, Wump wump wump...wump wump. And so I turn to my friends in my age group. Many say I'm to young to be going through this. It may be perimenopause. Luckily, I do exercise, I have an active lifestyle, eat healthy and I do get eight hrs of sleep. Though for me, I have heavy burdens in my life, relationship stress and I can't tell which symptom I should be paying attention to, to get a fix on it.

Finally, there is something that all my friends have been saying, since I do not want to put any more pharmaceutical medicine in my system...Black Cohosh. It comes in pill, drops, and tea forms. For beginners like myself, I'll be taking the pill form. Down the hatch my friends...here's to a more balanced life!

John Hopkins Issued a "Cancer Update"...and recommendations for fighting the disease

CLAIM: Below is a snip-it of an article: Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins: This portion concerns FOOD and how continually eating the wrong foods can grow the dormant cancer cells that humans have. The entire article can be viewed at this site from John Hopkins Hospital. An interesting and short read.

BECAUSE I LOVE YOU...

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

A. Sugar substitutes like
NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made
With Aspartame and it is harmful
. A better natural substitute
Would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small
Amounts.
Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in
Color Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
( in an earlier blog i mention the dangers of Aspartame, sea salt and soy/(nut) milk...please read them for more detail.)

B. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the
Gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting
Off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer
Cells are being starved.

C. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment.
A meat-based
Diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat,
Like chicken. Meat also contains livestock
Antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all
Harmful, especially to people with cancer.
(I also wrote about meat too...read for more detail)

15 min fresh dinner....ok, maybe 20 min.

My dinner today is sooooo simple. Broiled salmon. Cleaned with lemon juice, some olive oil on both sides, and a little salmon rub seasoning pop in the broiler...10 to 15 min, easy. Then while preparing fish for the oven, I start boiling water for the vegetable pasta...4 oz serving gives me a full serving of vegetables per meal. Ronzoni Garden Delight  click hear for summer salad recipes.

But I can't help but have even more vegetables so I prepare my Mother In Law's fresh okra dish with white onions and vine tomato's. Cut okra, slice onion, chunks of tomato, a little salt, lots of pepper and sugar to taste. That's done before pasta is all cooked. And a small can of Progresso's clam sauce for the pasta. Even more fish.

My protein, my grains, my veggie's. This was an ok dish, but at least time preparation was so short, that I enjoyed a movie after dinner.

Having lunch with myself for $10 at Novella...Little Italy

A GOOD SINGLE SERVING
While networking for a new career I had to fuel up and walking in little Italy in NYC, I smelled all kinds of Chinese fried cooking. Knowing that I did not want to disrupt my diet, I saw this sign that I could not refuse. PASTA, PIZZA, PANNINI, WINE OR SODA FOR $10. I even had my choice of three different pasta dishes. Penne with vodka sause was my choice and I even had a choice of red or white wine. And yes, my followers know I choose red wine for it's cancer fighting attributes.

Now, mostly when eating in restaurants, the American portion leaves you with a  chance to bring home a doggie bag, but as you see here, this portion is just right. Not only was I hungry and made all food disappeared, even the leftover sauce I sopted up with my bread.

Then, as my followers also know, I cant have my water without my fresh lemon. The waiter even gave me a lime as a choice. I did have two pieces of bread because it was so warm and the butter was soooo creamy!

This was my Monday lunch treat, while relaxing in a cozy bistro enjoying the fine sunny weather. By the way, this special is offered all day...every day. So stop by any time after you finish shopping in China town, spent all your spending cash and is hungry after walking all around town. Just save $10.89 plus tip for the exceptional service at Novella's.

The Holiday Weekend Has Got Me Eating Crappy Food....Again

Been a little busy with family priorities since last I blogged. So, as a stress reliever, I have eaten very wrong through the Memorial holiday.

Saturday, On my way driving to the Coney Island beach boardwalk music weekend, I was smelling flame broiled beef through out my drive. Now I had no invite to any bbq yet, but I do enjoy occasionally that everything on my burger medium well HAMBURGER!

Raw red onions, tomato on the vine, romaine, mustard (grey poupon), ketsup, some special sause...OMG! Sounds like a WHOPPER to me; and so my friend and I stopped at the closest Burger King as my substitute for the BBQ flamed broiled craving. To tell you the truth, I have not had a Whopper in years.

Then as I left the boardwalk event, I went to Nathan's and had a frankfurter, potato wedge fries and to wash it down...Lemonade!

Not only did I not have a healthy meal, I had a not healthy day. But a little imbalance, balances out your life.

My way of thinking is, "life is to short" so do as you like and if it does not fit, don't force it.

This is an ad I came across about eating junk food and how to stop, check it out.

She's a peach...

Todays breakfast was a simple one. I had a peach smoothie...2 servings of fruit.  Two pistachio nut filled muffins, one would have been enough but it was so goooood! That takes care of my protein for this meal serving. By the way, a new study has come out referencing more health benefits by adding pistachio's to your diet increasing the levels of antioxidants in the blood. Click on pistachio to find out more.

That's it, nothing more, and I have a lot of energy this morn with a rev-it-up breakfast.

Friday 13 Brunch...Filling

OK, I have not posted for a week. I ate some Sh!tty food and my body noticed by having me on the toilet and cramping. YOUR BODY KNOWS!

So now I'm better and today is the first day I had something really healthy. My brunch for today:

Fresh spinach with thin fresh cut garlic, two eggs (cage free) scrabbled soft with chopped tomatoes on the vine and two homemade (Yes, I did it myself) wheat apple muffins. Notice I did not have any meat. Saving my meat intake for the medium well steak I'm gonna guzzle down 8 weeks from now!

I got the muffin recipe from the back of Aunt Jemima wheat blend pancake mix.

Whole Grain Fiber and Heart Heathly!

One of my quickest breakfast is cooking some hot cereal on the weekend and warming in up in the morning throughout the week for a quick pick me up. Today my heart healthy breakfast was Wheatena.  Ok, drenched in butter, (in my earlier post find out why I use butter instead of margarine) and turbinado sugar and cooked in water.

Fiber will help fill you up. Fiber will also assist in going to the bathroom for those long reading sessions (you know what I mean). Getting fiber in your diet will help that process go quicker. I only stay on the toilet just as  long as it takes me to take a leak.

Just yesterday, I told my daughter she needed to get more fiber in her diet because she was on the toilet for a little over a half an hour. To me...being on the toilet too long takes away from living my life, catching that tv show, or missing that last song in the club with all that alcohol drinking. Backsliding is ok at a minimum. (that one cup of red wine I say)

Other benefits is it has 25% more fiber than a-lot of cereals, low in saturated fat and cholesterol free. It may reduce the risk of heart disease and prevent some cancers.  Another wonder food for me.

You can also add some fruit on top like strawberries or banana's for on of your fruit servings for the day.

Today's Lunch...what a crunch

When I had to get a tooth pulled and had to be put under with anesthesia, I tried to stay up instead of counting backwards. Well...I felt how fast that anesthesia passed through my body and it was very painful. I'll never do that again, but I then realized how fast things go through your blood stream.

With that said, I know eating the right foods will start the benefits of good nutrients go throughout my body. So today for lunch I am having a sandwich. I have been told my sandwiches are just like the deli makes them.

The Bread: Zomick's rye bread seeded. Wheat flour, filtered water, Rye flour, Caraway seeds, salt, soybean oil & yeast. The caraway seed adds a delightful explosion of excitement with every chew. I purchased from the Key Food on 7th Ave. so you don't have to go to Lawrence, New York to get it.

The Cheese: Very hard to find even in your local gourmet stores but the Key Food on 7th Ave in Park Slope Brooklyn carries the Lorraine Swiss cheese. Very low in salt and if your the one who loves the stink in swiss, this is the stink you will crave for. Last year I could not find anywhere in the city. I went to NYC & Brooklyn. Finally I went to this Key Food and they explained to me that the factory had burnt down but is now back in full production. Since then this supermarket is the place I travel to for this cheese.

The Filling: Rare roast beef, salami, romaine, tomato on the vine, white onion and mustard.

By the time I finish this blog, my sandwich will be finished. Delicious!

Bon Apetite!

Seeds for Seasoning....some things in my cupboard

I like white pepper & sea salt as my basic seasonings in my cupboard. I like lemon pepper to season some of  meats, it really wake's up the flavor without having to add anything more.  I keep scallion's to season my fish, rosemary for my chicken, cilantro for my eggs and the list goes on.

I keep Worcestershire sauce for homemade sauce's, white and red wine vinegar & cooking wine, Dijon mustard, dry sage, thyme, basil and Italian seasoning.

But one thing I substitute as part of getting my vitamins and minerals along with dry herbs are seeds in my food. One day I purchased some instant oatmeal...only because it had flax seeds in it and I wanted to try it. It was an interesting change to my taste pallet.  Studies show that flaxseed may be a new wonder food. Preliminary studies show that flaxseed may help fight everything from heart disease and diabetes to breast cancer.

Another seed I keep in my cupboard is sesame seeds. The sesame seeds contain two unique substances: sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers calledlignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals.

Some of the Health Benefits of this delectable seed is that Sesame oil rubbed on the skin may soothe a minor burn or sunburn as well as help in the healing process. It's not unusual to encounter fantastic claims attributed to a single food. Sesame seed oil is said to remove wrinkles when applied to the skin in a facial massage. If this news gets out, there won't be a bottle left on the grocery shelves! Well I use Neutrogena light sesame oil after showering. Before I dry off, I rub the oil on my skin then pat dry. I have been told that my skin is incredibly smooth.

I also have added fennel seeds to my seasoning ingredients. After using some recipe's in my cookbook, most of the salad and fish dishes asked for fennel in the recipe. I was like "what is fennel?" After a long time of not adding this ingredient, I was in the isle of seasonings in the supermarket and found the FENNEL. Ohhh, this is fennel, I said.

Just try experimenting with some seeds in your recipes. It will add something different to your pallet and this substitution will give you the extra vitamins needed in your diet.

D'Vine Bread

OK, this is one of my "or not" deals on a bread that I can not find anywhere else. Farmers markets, whole foods, no where!

This bread is made from 7 different flour's. It has nuts, fruit and is a whole grain. Good with a preserve jam, butter, Brie cheese, or anything you like to top on your bread. Just call ahead for things you like or, delivery is an option.

I told a friend about this bread and I was told to purchase one for him and he will get mine as well. The bread is $9. One of the only breads I will spend $9 on and it is very hardy!

Wakei Wakei...Eggs and backei

Good morn...as I wake up to the sounds of the pounding of NYC cement crusher. This is better than an alarm clock, which I do not use.  Anywhere from 5 to 8 hours of sleep gets me up on time for anything. My body clock works for me.

Today I am cooking eggs scrambled soft. The eggs I purchase are roam free hens filled with Omega 3. I then go to my fridge and cut up some tomatoes on the vine and pepper to taste. One piece of whole 7 grain wheat bread and spread with strawberry preserves.

This meal consists of my dairy, fruit, grains and bread content for my personal diet.To find out your own calorie intake for your size, weight and sex, click and visit this site. To top it off, I will have the "One Cup Per Day" of Bustelo coffee freshly brewed. But I prefer to have some sort of juice. Pomagranete mix.

As the smart consumer knows, these cage free or organic eggs can be pretty expensive. Consider that I am only feeding myself, I shop at the Co-Op markets in my neighborhood, ie: Park Slope Coop and I only buy when its on sale if I'm shopping someplace else. There are many locations of Food Coop in the NYC area. Find one in your neck of the woods.

I am also consistent with making sure I purchase foods that are locally grown. Meaning anywhere from around the corner to 25-50 miles. This allows for the food to travel less to get to my neighborhood, less gas and fresher food. I shop in my neighborhood's farmers markets. If I'm doing big shopping, I look for coupons, check the weekly adds that are left on my step and view while I'm riding the train and plan my meals for the week. By clicking on coupons, you will find Coupon Queen. I viewed her on WNYE-1 and I saw her cut a $114 food bill to about $29. She not only gives you coupons, she educate's you on how to MAXIMIZE your food shopping experience and can save $$$ for you big.

I also visit other neighborhoods like Brooklyn's China town, the Russian area or where my brotherin Jewish neighborhoods. I have walked out the Russian neighborhood store's with 2 bags and I only spent $20.  They  have a different variety of food selection.

All of this has allowed me to be aware of how I spend my $$$ on food.

Bon Appetit!

Honey...Din Din is ready!

Today's dinner consisted of Brussels sprouts, baked chicken and white potatoes. I love the red one's but I have to get rid of the white one's first. I have to confess I am Ms. Butterkin's cousin. To me there is no substitute for butter. The most I can do for this heart clogging gem of a food is to buy it unsalted.

I put some garlic & pepper seasoning, onion powder and some mrs dash, any kind is ok in 3 tbsp of butter in a sauce pan. Melt the seasonings in the butter and 1/3 water and melt for about 2-3 min. Cut each brussell in half and pour sauce over each. Then I cut potatoe's in four's, then placed all in a cookie sheet and put in my George Forman oven. Turned to 30 min and watched some tv. heated up some backed chicken already made and ate before the tv show was off.

To wash it all down, some water with a splash of lemons...real one's.

Bon Appitite!

Whats for lunch today...

OK. If you eat the right proportions for each meal, you should be eating at least six (6) times a day. This does not mean  six 'hungry man plates". This means a serving of this and a serving of that. To figure out the right proportions for your sex, weight, hight and age, you can put your information into My food pyramid and adjust your meal plan just for you.

I just had a Peanut Butter and jelly sandwich. Now, my jelly consisted of fruit preserves.  The preserves substituted for part of the 2.5 cups of fruit for my specific daily fruit intake. In addition, my bread was a 7 grain whole wheat and my peanut butter was crunchy.  It’s just a fun way to satisfy my own taste pallets.

Now my Milk...well, I have cut out whole cow's milk from my diet.   There are two reasons for this:

1: American farmer use hormones and antibiotics in the cows they raise.  This makes humans sicker, fatter and has many health complications.

2: I drink nut milk.  This includes soy, rice or almond.  Also, the soy helps women deal with menopause. Something to think about. Now I am not a vegan, but eating healthy does not include the vegan diet... necessarily.

In respect, nut milk can be very expensive. I have found that supermarket name brand milk is substantially less expensive than the exclusive brand soy milk's. Another benefit is that soy milk last's WAYYYY longer than cow's milk...a little over a month. So I am getting my $$$ worth.

Someone told me, to get use to the change from cow's milk to nut milk, start off with vanilla soy. If you like that, gradually switch to the regular soy. I like to keep at least a quart of vanilla soy just for my Farina/Hot wheat cereal. It reallllly give's it a kick of just the right amount of sweetness.

With this meal, I have partially satisfied my grain, fruit, dairy, and nut intake of my daily food allowance.

Bon Appetite!

Things I avoid....

First thing first. There are things that I have totally cut out my diet and thing's I will indulge in from time to time. One of my favorite thing's to eat is red meat. You may have heard of the downfall of eating red meat, but I do eat things with a face. They say to much of anything is not good for you, so I'll include red meat in my diet every 90 day's, at least. I recommend that if you are purchasing ground beef, veal, lamb or other meats you enjoy, purchase a slab of the meat and have it grinded.  This way, you know that it comes from one piece of animal and not a combination of anything leftover like hooves, gristle, eye's...ect.  I prefer elk meat. Less cholesterol, fat and very hearty. That 1/2 lb burger, medium rare with all the fixing's. Romaine leaves,  tomatoes on the vine, sometimes a fried egg white, (which now makes this a Texas burger) some type of whole grain wheat bun-half maybe, red onions raw and just a slash of mustard, Grey Poupon Preferably. What I have totally cut out of my diet is white sugar and things with the ingredient Asparateme. Click on asparateme and find out this poison danger to your health.  This is why I take about 3 hours to shop for food because I read my labels. Labels are on food products to read them! I now use Sugar in the Raw or another Turbinado sugar brand substitute's, or just plain ol' honey to sweeten my food.  I find that having a coupon online or searching the weekend papers for this product to be on sale works for me.

These are some of the things I use daily for my healthy diet and to keep my young appearance....Bon appetite!
